Helping/Partnering

Two Newberg FISH Volunteers sorting foodNewberg FISH gratefully accepts assistance from individuals or organizations in the following ways:

Monetary Donations

Newberg FISH is a registered 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. All monetary donations are tax-deductible.

Please make checks payable to: Newberg FISH Emergency Service

You may drop off monetary donations at Newberg FISH during donations hours, or mail checks to our address at 125-A South Elliott Road, Newberg, OR 97132. Please do not send cash.

Merchant Partnership Programs

Newberg FISH is registered with both Fred Meyer and Amazon Smile merchant partnership programs. These programs are free. Once you are registered and designate Newberg FISH as your charity, these merchants automatically donate a percentage of what you spend to us.

Nap’s Thriftway Market will also donate a percentage of your purchases to us. However, we must present those receipts to Nap’s. Please bring your Naps’s receipts to the our facility at 125-A South Elliott Road during our donation hours.

Volunteering

Everyone who works at Newberg FISH is a volunteer. There are no paid staff members. We enthusiastically welcome new volunteers, and will make every effort to match our needs with your interests, skills and time availability.

It’s not just about packing food boxes. We also invite volunteers who are computer savvy, enjoy meeting new people, have office or managerial skills, or relish getting out in the community to pick up food or donated recyclables. Most volunteers work for 5 hours, one day a week, but other positions are not time-specific and may fit around your other commitments.

A family supporting FISH by returning bottles and cansFood Donations and Food Drives

While Newberg FISH does receive some foods free or at a nominal price through the USDA Oregon Food Bank, we do purchase a large amount of food in an attempt to provide more nutritional foods and sufficient quantity. Donating food directly to Newberg FISH reduces the amount of food we must purchase.

We try to continually stock certain foods. To reduce our need to purchase these foods, we encourage you to donate items from the following list:

  • Canned foods, such as chili, pork & beans, corn, green beans, tuna, soup, fruit, tomatoes, and refried beans
  • Dry staples, such as beans, oatmeal, cereal, and flour
  • Packaged food, such as macaroni & cheese, peanut butter, and cooking oil

Grocery Outlet hosted a food drive to support Newberg FISHA popular way to donate food directly to Newberg FISH is to conduct a food drive.

Newberg FISH can assist your food drive by dropping off empty collection barrels, and picking them up when your drive concludes.

Before starting your food drive, we ask that you contact our Food Drive Coordinator at 503-538-4444 so we know who is conducting food drives on our behalf and can provide assistance to you.

Recycling

Newberg FISH’s recycling program helps defray operating expenses. We welcome donations of refundable beverage cans and bottles. These should be brought to the Newberg FISH building during donation hours.
